Description

This desktop sculpture is a handcrafted wooden replica created specifically for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST). It is modeled after the statue titled "Today is Tomorrow," which stands prominently in front of the school in Alexandria, Virginia. This statue serves as a symbol of hope and change, reflecting the resilience and determination of the students at TJHSST.

Designed by a graduate from the Class of 1989, the title "Today is Tomorrow" encapsulates the challenges faced by students during their educational journey and emphasizes the importance of these experiences in their future endeavors. The desktop version of the sculpture is intended to remind graduates of the personal growth and obstacles they overcame during their time at the school.

The sculpture features a space to display a graduating tassel and includes a drawer for storing special keepsakes. Among these keepsakes is an excerpt from a paper published in 2017, which discusses the artist's inspiration for the statue.

The finished sculpture measures approximately 11 inches tall and 11 inches wide, with the drawer base sized at 6 inches by 6 inches.
